When you first start a Mary Kay Cosmetics business, you are referred to as a Mary Kay Consultant .  All Mary Kay Beauty Consultants makes 50% profit of all the products they sell to their customers.

For example you buy $1,000 from Mary Kay and sell it for $2000. Pretty impressive profit margin if one can build a big customer base. When you recruit one or two active team members then you promote yourself to Senior Consultant and you are now eligible to make 4% of what your new team member buys from Mary Kay.

It is important to note that the commissions are paid directly by the company. The next level is Star Recruiter recently changed to Star Team Builder and that is when you sponsor 3 -4 Active team members.

As a star recruiter, you are eligible to wear a Company Custom Made Mary Kay Red Jacket at all your Mary Kay events. Your commission still is at 4%. At this point you also get a $50 team building bonus.

Next level is when you have 5 team members plus.At this level you are a Team Leader or if you have 8 plus team members you are “A Future Directors”. In anyone of these levels, your commission goes up from 4% to between 9%-13%.

Your commission is 13% ONLY if you personally order a minimum of $600 worth of Mary Kay Products each month. If in any given month your personal order is less than $600 then your commission goes down to 9%.

As a team leader or future director, you also receive the $50 team building bonus and at this point you are eligible to go on target for a Mary Kay Consultant Car (Not the Pink Cadillac).

When you earn the car, you are referred to as a Grand Achiever. You have the option to get the car or cash. If you opt in for cash then you get $375 each month for two years as long as your team is producing $5,000 monthly wholesale.

If you take the car, you have to do the same, your team must produce $5,000 each month otherwise if you fall below that, you will have to make co-payment towards the car yourself depending on how much your team missed to achieve the required $5,000. If your team is absolutely not able to produce that then chances are you end up losing your car.

If you have a strong team and both you and your Mary Kay team have solid customer base, then no need to worry you will not have to make a co-payment or lose your Mary Kay Car.

Every two years you qualify for a new car by doing the same thing you did to earn the car. Next level is “Director In Qualification” referred to as (D.I.Q.) At this level you submit a (DIQ) card to the company if you want to become a Mary Kay Sales Director.

To qualify to be a Mary Kay Sales Director, you team will need to purchase $18,000 from Mary Kay within 4 months and must have a total of 24 team members which include the person qualifying. 10 of the 24 team members MUST have a cumulative of $600 within the qualifying period. The DIQ is not considered one of the 10.

Your Mary Kay DIQ team MUST contribute a minimum of $14,000 and the consultant in DIQ can contribute the other $4,000. You do not have to contribute the $4,000 if your team is able to order more than $14,000. Should a DIQ fail to meet a minimum of $4,000 a month, then she will have to start the qualification all over if she chooses and is still eligible.

With Mary Kay Car Programs, for both directors and consultants, one has to re-qualify every two years. Re-qualify means you do the same thing you did to earn the car without missing and you always have to maintain your car by producing the same each month to avoid making a car co-payment.
